At the age of 6years old, she took home an event making use of an old board that was found in the trash outside her house. The young surfer began her surf career when she was five years old and had won her first surf contest at age 6. At age 7 she got a sponsor. She was originally from San Clemente in California. Ashley was a participant in NSSA National Championship at age 16. In 2003, she was awarded the Triple Crown Award for Rookie of the Year. In addition, she won two National Scholastic Surfing Association Championships as well as the Professional Surfing Tour of America title. Ashley won her first title in the 2010 Pipeline Women's Pro at Hawaii. Ashley is ranked 59th in the Women's Qualification Series for 2014.
